Rebranding an
Organization
A Minecraft organization on the game MineZ wanted to develop a new identity to bring in more players and have a more modern look
after having the same thing for years.

Goal:
Rebrand an existing brand to bring in players by creating a new logo, consistent uniforms, and a portrait of the players.
Tools:
-
Adobe Photoshop
-
Adobe Illustrator
The Starting Ground:
I received the original uniforms and logo as reference. The players felt that their old branding was too cliche compared with other clans.

Rapper?
Egypt?
Revise?
An Interesting Approach:
Instead of starting on the logo, they wanted to decide on a consistent theme for the uniforms. They wanted it like the old logo. I started with the yellow, black, and white scheme for the colors.

Member Insight:
After looking at the sample above, the members suggested what they would like to see.
Individual's personalities
More texture
Different colors
They asked me what colors we should try, so I tried blue. After a few revisions, we found a pattern that worked well for their needs.
-
I worked with each person to design a uniform with their own unique characteristics while still staying on brand.
A Touch of Blue:

Member Insight:
Stratified with the uniforms, the
members gave suggestions for the logo.
Utilize blue colors
Simple, modern
Block font
I used the color scheme of the blue uniforms to guide me. Since this is a block gamer, I wanted to keep some letters bold. Once I had ideas drawn, I sent it over for a vote.
Developing a logo from a uniform:

Winning Logo:
The members picked the simplest one.
I made some small edits and it was done.
The logo is used in their Discord server.

A Friendly Group:
For the background, I took a screenshot of the most memorable location in the game.
-
I mapped out placements for each person.
-
The goal was to create action and personality.

93rd Virtues:
The following image is a closer look at the official logo.
Using Illustrator, I created the portrait, and it is also available on the Discord server for everyone to see.
A Group Picture:

-
Members of the community felt that the rebranding was trustworthy.
-
New players joined.
-
I designed uniforms for new players.
-
Players used my uniform designs for other games.
-
The branding remains today.
Conclusion:
-
First time rebranding anything.
-
Learned to try a different approach then my usual process.
-
Moving forward, I want to take on projects outside of my comfort zone to challenge my skills.
Knowledge Gained:
Is That the End?
Unfortunately, MineZ became repetitive and caused people to feel bored. To combat this, a few of the leaders developed a new game mode to entertain the new players. The one thing they needed, was a designer…
